It does not create a contract or establish a policy; rather it guides members of the faculty to existing policies, which always supersede anything that is said in this handbook and which are readily available on the university's web site (http://www.rice.edu/) and in the president's office. The university is committed to keeping this handbook up to date, particularly its on-line version, but policies are constantly changing, and members of the faculty should consult the policies themselves to verify what is current. The online version is linked to most relevant documents.
